Accessories for a bath: types and features of choice

A visit to the steam room should evoke only positive emotions. But this is unlikely to happen if you “bring” an unpleasant fungal infection or thermal burn from the bathhouse. Taking bath procedures will become comfortable and safe if you follow basic hygiene rules. One of these requirements is the use of special shoes for the bath. Her choice has its own characteristics that are worth focusing on.

Why do you need slippers in the bathhouse?

Everyone answers the question about the need for bath slippers himself. Some people believe that shoes are not needed in the steam room and visit it barefoot. In fact, this is not entirely correct. There are several important factors that speak in favor of shoes for a bath:

  • Many bath rooms are equipped with tiled floors. The tile itself is a fairly cold material, and walking on it with bare feet is not very pleasant. In addition, it is easy to slip on tiles, and falling on a hard surface can end very badly;
  • A bathhouse (either public or private) is characterized by increased humidity and warmth. Such conditions are ideal for the development of fungus, which can easily “move” to bare feet;
  • The floor in the steam room has a high temperature, so walking on it without slippers is simply hot.

Rules for choosing bath shoes

Regardless of what preferences a visitor has regarding bath shoes, there are certain rules for choosing them:

  • The manufacturing material should not be slippery. Otherwise, the shoes may fly off your feet, and the bathhouse attendant will be left with bare feet. The best option would be slippers made of rubber, felt, cotton fabric, or wood.
  • The sole must be non-slip and moisture resistant. To ensure slip resistance, various methods are used to treat the lower outer part of the product: the rubber sole is made in relief, and the fabric sole is additionally covered with an anti-friction backing.
  • The outer side must be made of water-repellent material, or the surface must be treated with moisture-protective agents. This will reduce the risk of dirty water or germs getting on your feet. For the same purposes, it is better to give preference to closed shoes.
  • No deformation or heating under the influence of water and high temperature. If the shoes shrink under the influence of water, their reuse will become impossible. Using a cardboard insert to achieve the desired shape for such products is not acceptable, since after the first visit to the bathhouse such a gasket will get wet.
  • No friction on the skin during use. This is possible if “rough” hard fabric was used in manufacturing.
  • Compliance with shoe sizes. It should fit the visitor, only in this case the necessary comfort will be ensured. Slippers that don't fit will cause blisters or falls.
  • The presence of a sole with a thickness of at least 5 mm. These slippers will provide comfort to your feet.

If there is a need to purchase disposable shoes for going to the bathhouse, then all the advice is acceptable for such products.

Choosing shoes for the bath

Any footwear must be suitable for the conditions in which it will be used. In this regard, the most important rule when choosing slippers for a bath is a non-slip sole that has high-quality grip on tiles and other floor coverings. Oddly enough, when buying shoes for a steam room, many people forget about this condition and buy plastic flip-flops, which are the slipperiest on tiles.

The best option is rubber shoes. It has better grip on the floor and is available in a wide variety of models. Rubber shoes for baths are sold in almost any industrial store, so there will be no problems purchasing them.

Open or closed

When choosing between open and closed models, it is better to choose the latter. First of all, they are safer from a hygiene point of view. Closed toe and heel are practically inaccessible to fungal infections.

Size

The size of shoes for a bath must strictly correspond to the parameters of the feet. It is strictly not recommended to purchase flip-flops or slippers a size or two larger. The leg will “dangle” in them. In addition, the likelihood of stepping on your toes and falling increases.

Colors

The color scheme is not particularly important when choosing shoes for a bath. Only personal preferences come into play here. However, if you have a choice between an unusual rich shade and a practical color, then it is better to go with the second option. The same can be said about the fluctuations between shoes with poor-quality soles, but in a color you like, and slippers with a color you don’t like, but with a good, textured sole. The main thing here is not color, but stability on the floor.

Disposable slippers

Any zealous owner of his own bathhouse will be glad to see friends and relatives and have fun gatherings after visiting the steam room. Of course, it wouldn't be bad if friends brought their own shoes for the bath. But if it is not there, then you should take care of their health and stock up on several pairs of disposable slippers.

The cheapest option for such shoes are flip-flops - flip-flops with a single bridge located between the toes. They are very light and cheap. In former times they were made only from rubber, but today there are also synthetic versions. Flip-flops are not particularly safe from the point of view of contracting fungal infections, but they will allow you to get out of the situation if one of the guests did not take care of their own bath slippers.

The benefits of aromatherapy in a sauna

In baths and saunas, an accessory such as an evaporator is often used. It is designed to maintain the aromatherapy effect while vaping. The correct selection of oils for a bath can have a healing and healing effect, especially if they are combined with such bath accessories as wooden and plastic massagers.

I would like to highlight sauna fragrances as a separate category, since hot steam with oil forms the principle of inhalation. The most useful oils are:

  1. Eucalyptus – relieves runny nose, cough, colds, and relieves muscle fatigue.
  2. Pine trees are a powerful disinfectant used for diseases of the upper respiratory tract.
  3. Mints are an indispensable aid for joint diseases. It also has a beneficial effect on blood vessels.
  4. Tea tree - cleanses steamed skin at a deep level.

Shoes for the bath: what should they be?

If we summarize all the basic requirements for shoes for a bath, it turns out that slippers should be:

  • Made from non-slip material. Otherwise, they can be lost when walking;
  • Have a non-slip, anti-friction sole that will not lose its properties even in water;
  • Feature a water-repellent surface, which will guarantee their hygienic characteristics;
  • Do not deform and do not heat up when heating/cooling;
  • If the material used in the manufacture of slippers is not soft, then it is necessary to ensure that they do not rub or press on the skin;
  • Even disposable bathhouse shoes should not become limp or wet on your feet like paper;
  • The cost of slippers should be affordable for any average person.

Slippers for baths, saunas and home

If you visit a sauna, bathhouse, indoor swimming pool, massage room, spa centers or beauty salons, then, of course, you need appropriate shoes made from natural materials, ones in which your feet would feel light, comfortable, and “breathe.” and rested, such shoes can withstand high temperatures, protect against overheating, do not get wet and do not slip, so that they are strong and durable. It would also be nice if it were in perfect harmony with your appearance, matched in color, texture, and met high aesthetic requirements. Agree, there are quite a lot of wishes. Is it possible to find shoes that meet all these parameters?

To be honest, it is quite difficult, or almost impossible.

If the slippers do not get wet, then in most cases they are rubber flip-flops or synthetic flip-flops, which in itself is no longer environmentally friendly.

If the sole is made of natural felt or jute, then it gets wet.

If the sole is made of polypropylene, evaplast and other similar materials, it does not get wet, but cannot withstand the high temperature of the sauna.

If these are bast slippers, it would seem that everything here is natural, everything is “eco-eco”, but they are not very comfortable to walk in, and it is quite difficult to combine them with a beautiful bath set, and it is almost impossible to visit a spa salon .

It’s difficult, but you can probably find something more or less suitable according to at least some parameters, but you still won’t get a complete ensemble.

Puzzled by this question, we soon found a way out. Since we are developing designer products from terry fabric, why don’t we open a new line of individual tailoring of designer shoes for baths and saunas, which would meet all the previously listed requirements? And, having ordered a beautiful bath set, you can always complement it with beautiful and comfortable bath slippers, made to your size, designed and made personally for you.

Since bath slippers are made as part of a set, their appearance fully matches the color scheme, style and decor of the entire ensemble as a whole. The top of the slipper is made of terry fabric (100% cotton), its inner part is made of natural linen, so the basic requirements for the feet to feel comfortable, “breathe” and relax are met.

We pay special attention to the sole, because... There are especially many demands on her. Therefore, like a layer cake, it is made from several materials.

The first layer is a soft terry insole that perfectly absorbs moisture and creates a micro-massage effect for the skin of the feet. The terry fabric is securely fastened to the double-lined fabric, stitched in two rows around the perimeter so that the insole under the foot does not bunch up, does not wrinkle, and is smooth and even. Such insoles made of terry fabric are not only very convenient and comfortable to wear, but also have a therapeutic orthopedic effect. In cold weather they retain heat, and in warm weather they create coolness by absorbing moisture and allowing the foot to breathe.

The second layer is a wool felt pad, natural, soft, with high thermal insulation and healing properties. For your convenience, a small additional layer of felt (heel pad) is placed under the heel.

And finally, the third layer, no less important than all the previous ones - the sole is made of a waterproof, non-slip, odorless, lightweight, but abrasion-resistant wonderful material - micropores (this is a mixture of rubber and polyethylene). And most importantly, this material can withstand very large temperature changes (from -50 to + 120!), is non-toxic, and is also suitable for children's shoes. For such slippers, we take a good thick micropore of 6.5 mm.

Bath slippers with such soles will become your favorite shoes not only in the bath, but also as house slippers.

Considering that we produce piece products, the development of each pair is individual, according to your sizes.

First, a papier-mâché mold is made from the block, which is then modeled, blanks are cut out to transfer them to a paper pattern, everything is carefully checked, adjusted and converted into material. All the details of the slippers are assembled by hand, and on just one slipper, depending on the cut and decor, there can be up to 20 or more, then all the elements are stitched and stitched together, combined with a thick duplerin and linen lining, creating a well-modeled “spout” shape. slipper. After this, the workpiece is turned inside out and decorated with a finishing roll, so that all connecting seams remain inside. The vamp is ready.

The component parts of the sole are glued together and manually sewn with small, neat stitches using a shoe hook and twisted double waxed thread (this is a special nylon thread for sewing on soles, impregnated with wax). The result is a very strong connection, which becomes even stronger during operation due to the high temperature of the steam room. Under its action, the wax begins to melt and additionally glues the stitched seam.

Before sending the finished slippers to the Customer, we make sure to wash and dry them on a block so that they “remember” their shape well. The slippers come with a special calico bag for storage and machine spinning after washing.

Of course, creating such shoes is a very long, painstaking and labor-intensive job, but the quality of the product is worth it!

Currently, several models of terry slippers for baths and home are being developed in the form of flip-flops with an open heel. Conventionally, they can be divided into two types:

1. Slippers with closed toes - comfortable, soft, comfortable, keep their shape perfectly, because... The top of the slipper is reinforced with dublerin and linen lining. Moreover, such slippers are good not only for going to the bathhouse and for spa treatments, in combination with a luxurious terry robe, they are convenient for relaxing in a cozy home environment or a comfortable room in a country sanatorium.

1.1. Colored colored slippers.

The top of the slipper is assembled from several curved segments of different colors, forming a beautiful fan-shaped composition made in accordance with the color and decor of the entire bath set.

1.2. Set colored slippers for home.

In these slippers, intended for home use, the thermal and therapeutic effect is enhanced by an additional layer of natural wool in the sole.

The top of the slipper is assembled as in the previous version, but the sole is much thicker. To make the slippers warmer, more comfortable and soft, two layers of different types of thick felt are laid between the layers of terry insole and waterproof sole: the top one is felted (6 mm), the bottom one is pressed wool (7 mm). The felt layers are glued together and covered on the outside with a strip of terry cloth in the color of the slipper.

Here, too, a micropore sole is used, but if for purely bath slippers we choose a thickness of 6 mm, then here it is more advisable to take a thinner sole, 3 mm.

The terry insole, two-layer felt and micropore are glued and stitched with waxed thread.

And one more difference from pure bath slippers. There, the stitching thread, treated with wax, additionally glues the sole due to the high temperature in the bath. These slippers are not intended for going to the steam room, but to ensure that the seam is just as strong, we make sure to treat the slippers with hot steam, so you don’t have to worry about the quality of the connection.

1.3. Single-colored slippers.

The top of the slipper is also stacked, made of fabric of one color, the second color is used on the edging of the slipper and the insole. These slippers are ideal for both women's and men's sets. If your bath set uses decorative trim using the frotel technique made from plant motifs, then the top of the slipper is additionally decorated with decorative elements using the same technique and in the color scheme of the set.

2. Slippers with open toes.

This is a lighter and more sanitary option. The top and bottom of the slipper are made of terry fabric, reinforced with dublerin to give shape. The vamp is made in two shades consistent with the bath set

As in the previous version, decorative finishing using the frotel technique can also be used here.

As you can see, slippers can be different in shape, color, style, decor, size, but they have one thing in common - convenience, environmental friendliness, functionality, aesthetics and quality.

And in combination with a bath set, you get a completely complete, logically thought-out and finished look or a cozy home ensemble of a bathrobe, a set of towels and, most importantly, cute, soft slippers.

If you want slippers for the house with a heel, slippers-boots, slippers-boots, we will be happy to develop new models of the size you need, select a beautiful color scheme and decorative finish so that you like them and become your favorite house shoes!

Bath broom

It is impossible to imagine a real Russian bathhouse without a broom. It can be made from a wide variety of plant types; birch, oak, linden, and juniper brooms are popular.

Different types of brooms provide different healing effects. For example, juniper will be a good preventative against colds, wormwood will help relieve stress, bamboo strengthens blood vessels, eucalyptus improves skin condition. Try different types of brooms or make mixed bouquets to feel their effect.

Making a broom with your own hands is not difficult; you can do it yourself. If you don’t have the time or desire, then it’s easy to find suitable brooms in stores and markets.

Bath caps

Bath caps today are represented by a huge assortment. They can have various patterns, designs and inscriptions. In addition to the fact that a hat is a stylish accessory, it also plays an important role - it protects the head from overheating. It is advisable that you have several hats in your bathhouse (depending on the capacity of the steam room) so that each visitor can protect her head.

They can be made from natural wool, linen, cotton, felt and felt. All fabrics “breathe” well.
