Eucalyptus
Such brooms cannot be prepared in the forests of Central Russia, but they are available for sale. Eucalyptus leaf contains a lot of essential oil. Depending on the type, its main component may be two interesting substances. One of them is called cineole and has very high antimicrobial activity. This broom is an indispensable remedy for colds. Before you start patting your body with a steamed broom, apply it to your face for a few minutes and breathe. Such inhalation can work wonders no worse than potent pills, but with much fewer side effects. The second type of eucalyptus is rich in the substance citral, which emits a lemony aroma and allows the user to be filled with positive thoughts.

To get the maximum benefit from going to the steam room, you need to take into account an important rule for harvesting branches, namely the collection periods:
- birch is harvested on Trinity days only in dry weather, but no later than the first days of July;
- oak - harvested from early July until autumn (those specimens with burdocks growing near their trunks are especially valuable);
- linden is most valued during flowering periods, in spring, but it cannot be collected in cities, since the foliage absorbs all pollution;
- eucalyptus is ready for harvest in August-September;
- pine needles are stocked at any time of the year;
- nettle has the most beneficial properties during flowering periods;
- Rowan berries are knitted only at the beginning of summer.
The optimal time to search for raw materials is early in the morning, but only after all the dew has disappeared. All healing properties can be lost under unsuitable drying and storage conditions. Cut branches should be laid out in a warm, dry, well-ventilated place, but not in direct sunlight. In villages, fresh raw materials are stacked in haystacks, and just before use, the branches are taken out and tied.
According to the correct weaving technique, the thickest branches should be located in the very center, and the thinnest ones around the circumference. This is how a fan of the correct shape is obtained. For ease of use, the handle should be cleared of foliage, and its optimal diameter should be 3-4 cm.
Birch
Birch broom is cut from branches with soft green leaves in the first half of summer. This is an ideal product for cleansing the skin, opening pores, and actively ridding the body of harmful substances. Betulin and betulinic acid contained in birch leaves have pronounced anti-inflammatory and antiviral activity. A light massage with a birch broom is especially useful for problem skin and a tendency to colds.

The benefits of bath brooms
As I already said, bath brooms are made from a variety of plants and tree branches; in this article we will focus on less common options. For me personally, the main brooms are made of birch and oak, sometimes I use fir and linden brooms. This is quite enough to diversify the bathing process, but I recommend that you start from what is more accessible to you.
Carefully inspect your garden or neighboring forest. Surely there are many plants growing there that are suitable for a bath broom. By the way, a broom not only contains healing substances, but also an excellent massage accessory.
But each broom has its own recommendations for use, and in order to understand the benefits of a bath broom, we will consider each of them separately.
The benefits of birch brooms
Birch leaves are a real treasure trove of useful substances that, under the influence of heat and steam, settle on your skin. Fetoncides, which are released by a birch leaf when heated, clean the air of the bathhouse from pathogenic bacteria.
Have you ever walked in a birch thicket? Have you felt how fresh and pleasant the air is there for our lungs? All this is thanks to the substances contained in birch leaves. Unfortunately, birch branches are collected only for a week a year. And now the main useful qualities for which I love birch brooms so much:
- Remarkably cleanses the body of impurities and toxins, makes the skin soft and silky.
- It has a very beneficial effect on the kidneys and diuretic system.
- It has a beneficial effect on people suffering from respiratory diseases and is recommended for smokers and asthmatics. Be prepared for the discharge of sputum, the bronchi expand.
- Contains many essential oils that are useful for skin diseases and acne.
- Flexible and elastic, great for massage treatments.
